Men, Dress Your Best!

Pinned Image

I love a man that can dress. Being able to play with color and pulling it off is not easy for everyone, but once you have mastered this, it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3. Not only does it make a man look confident, it also shows that he puts thought into his day. If you feel and look great, your day will be just as fantastic. Now, I have an accent piece addiction and an even bigger one when it comes to dressing a man, these basic pieces are just as simple for men, as they have been for women for years. Here are a few accent pieces a man can throw in to his gear to compliment his look.

  1. Tie
  2. Scarf
  3. Vest
  4. Belt
  5. Watch
  6. Shoes
  7. Shades
  8. Hat

Now go turn some heads!

Fab Fashion Fridays – Mad Men!

HELLOOOOO, FRIDAY! I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve had quite a busy week and I’m stoked that it’s finally Friday! Thanks for hanging out with me while Wajima took some time off to focus on some important things going on in her life these days!

Let’s see, so far this week, I’ve shared with you my love of both beautiful faces and beautiful music! Now, let’s take a look at my obsession with the retro 60’s clothing worn by the cast of the AMC award-winning series, Mad Men…more specifically the characters of Don Draper and Joan Holloway.  No need for me to ramble on about how much I love them because I could go on for DAYS!  Seriously…when I “grow up”, I wanna look Just. Like. Joan…or at least have that woman’s measurements!!

Take a look for yourself at the sexy, classy and sophisticated style of these two drop-dead gorgeous characters!

Alice and Olivia

photo

I may be wearing this Alice and Olivia number all wrong but in all honesty the dress is just all wrong…it’s some crazy jersey material on top and some weird cotton on the bottom. I believe it ties on the back but for whatever reason I decided to tie it in the front. I feel so very old and dated whenever I try something trendy and alternative like this on because I just really can’t get into this look. I always end up in Tahari or DVF. That said, I can see how some of you might like it and so I’ve shared. I tried this on at Nordstrom I didn’t catch the price but Alice and Olivia are usually pretty affordable and seeing as how this looks like something you’d find at Target I’m going to go ahead and assume it’s not very expensive.

It’s a Privilege not a Right!

The other day while shopping at our home away from home, Barney’s. My husband and I chatted up one of our favorite Barney’s employees, Alex (Carlos, I love you too boo) I looked off into the distance and saw these…I was tempted to touch and I found that they are the softest pair of jeans I’ve ever held in my hands but the biggest size available was a size 26. I’m not afraid to say that I am NOT a size 26 and my # 1 rule to looking fabulous at all times is that I refuse to squeeze into anything!  If they don’t have my size I always go bigger and have it taken in.  I turned to Alex and in a defeated voice said, “they are perfect but they are not my size” Alex, encouraged that I try them on anyway and thank god he did! (You hear that Barney’s managers Alex always makes a sale…always)…ladies they are exquisitely soft like leggings but they have pockets like jeans.

Now, I know I’m super late on this but apparently they are known, as “JEGGINGS” and they are amazing! Like I said, I don’t encourage this with any piece of clothing especially jeans but you can even size down like I did for a snug fit and because of their high spandex content you won’t look like a muffin.  I swear I invented these in the 90’s but as most of my inventions go I didn’t have the resources or connections. What a hot commodity! Run don’t walk to your nearest Barney’s and pick up a pair. The brand is EVER. These “jeggings” are so comfortable you can literally sleep in them, then wake up in the morning and brush your teeth with a bottle of jack.

The Perfect Holiday Dress!

photo

Nicole Miller…where do I start? I once lived with a girl who knew Marc Jacobs’ boyfriend so she was literally one degree away and by knowing her I was two degrees away. Now this isn’t big news for you New Yorkers but for us Miamians it’s huge! Even bigger when you see all of the Ed Hardy we have to contend with. That said, I guess it’s not too crazy to assume SOMEONE out there knows Nicole Miller and if you do would give her a big kiss on the lips from me.

How fricken amazing is this dress? It’s got a VERY interesting collar it’s stretchy in all the right places and while I don’t like black clothing this is definitely an exception. Nicole Miller is win win win 85% of the time. You can find her dresses at any Nordstrom store and even at JCPenny! She’s got something for everyone and I think she deserves your hard earned cash.

Shagadelic!

This Tory Burch number was a little too Austin Powers Vanessa Kensington to me, but my husband loved it and I can see how some girls out there given the right accessories and legs can pull this off.  However I posses neither of those things because I refuse to go to the gym and or buy jewelry…neither is really attractive to me. Still, there is some hope; an old friend once told me that the right pair of heels can make even my legs look good so you never know…

I wasn’t in the mood to test this particular theory but if you have the right bag, the right necklace and/or bracelet, the right earrings or even the right legs and/or heels head on over to your nearest Nordstrom, or you can skip all the long lines and the chance that they’ve already run out, and go to Polyvore its called the “Julia printed silk dress” and it’s will run you $425.00!

Tippy Flats

photo

Who doesn’t love a cute pair of flats? Flats are a secretary’s dream. They are comfy enough to be flip-flops but they are not. Of course the only way I can be into accessories or shoes is if L.A.M.B. makes it and you guessed it, these are made by L.A.M.B. They are so comfortable and look fancy without really being too fancy… I found these lovelies at a Nordstrom Rack in the Sawgrass mall in Florida. They are kind of an old style but I would venture to say that good fashion never really goes out of style.

Plaid Decision

If you’re anything like me you think black jelly beans are the foulest things on this planet.  If you’re even more like me you know the previous statement was made a little less true by this unbelievable mess.   I’ve never been a big fan of Ralph Lauren’s clothing but this is an atrocity…it reminds me of that episode of SATC when Charlotte is trying to impress Trey’s Scottish family and his evil mother “bunny”:::shudder::: In case you were wondering I am wearing it in my size which means it was meant to look like this but it’s not ALL bad news… Ladies and Gents I tried this thing on at the new Bloomingdales outlet in Dolphin Mall Miami!!!!!!!! See? I bring the good with the bad.  In this case the good with the WTF is she wearing?

Bargain Find $15.00 Dress

So while I waited for my nail appointment this weekend I wandered into some stores. These included such big names as Mad Rag and Navarro lol…I even went into Payless because the smell inside that place is intoxicating…or just toxic either way it brings back so many memories. A few minutes in Payless is guaranteed to bring up your spirits…its either that or a high off of the glue…I don’t really question it much, I just take a deep breath and pretend to browse…so back to business.

I came across this cheap-y sweater dress which I think we can all agree is quite the cute dress however as much as I like the fit of a sweater dress there are a few things I’ve never understood like a sweater mini? Really? What exactly am I keeping warm? My torso? Wouldn’t the word sweater imply warmth? As you can tell I’m not very fond of mini dresses but they are hard to avoid these days and this particular dress won my heart because it has a pocket on the front…not big enough to fit my hands in, one definitely, but not two. The front pocket is very cute a-la 1990’s hoodie sweater.  I like this little Mad Rag number, it has a good spandex/cotton ratio so it clings just right but it was 15$ so I wouldn’t count on that extra snug fit after one wash (the downside to cheap fashion ladies) In conclusion yes, it may as well be disposable but what isn’t these days?
